This course is specifically designed to:Train a person to conduct weatherization assistance program shell technician work. Teach how a house and its ducts are tested for leakiness. Teach where to look for reducing air infiltration and increasing insulation to reduce energy bills.
This Residential Weatherization Shell Technician’s Training Package follows the guidelines for the curriculum established in the “Core Competencies for the Weatherization Assistance Program” developed by the Weatherization Trainers Consortium for the Department of Energy Weatherization programs for installers
Course Outline:
- 12 DVD set Energy Installer Training: Covers all the BPI Envelope Professional Standards, and the DOE-Weatherization Installer Core Competencies for Installers/Retrofitters/Contractors/Construction Workers.
- 3 DVD set Energy Auditor, Building Analyst (B.A.), HERS Rater, and DOE-Weatherization Training: Whole House Assessment, Diagnosing and Air Sealing
A 350-page Book "Energy Assessment and Improvement" by Harbuck
- 1 CD which includes BPI documents, OSHA, Thermal Bypass, Sample State Weatherization Standards, and Worker Safety
- 4 DVD set Equipment Training: Blower Door, Pressure Pan, Zone Pressure Diagnostics, Duct Blaster
No computer needed—just use the DVD player connected to your television
