Course Overview:

This class will give students an overview of the Microsoft Office applications and how they work together. Students will be able to create and edit Word documents that include outlines, tables, styles and sections. Students will be able to create and edit Excel spreadsheets that include charts and "what-if" analysis. Students will be able to create and edit PowerPoint presentations. Students will be able to create Access databases that include tables, forms, queries and reports. Students will need a basic understanding Windows to complete this class. Students will need a copy of Office. A 30-day trial version is available.

ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date.  When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.

Course Outline:

  • Students will create and edit Word documents.
  • Students will format their documents and add tables and column formatting to their documents.
  • Students will create and edit Excel worksheets.
  • Students will add formulas, function and formatting to their Excel workbooks.
  • Students will create data tables and forms in Access.
  • Students will create queries and filters and set up their tables to ensure data accuracy.
  • Students will create and edit presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Students will format their PowerPoint presentations and prepare them to be displayed electronically.
  • Students will manage email and their in-box using Outlook.
  • Students will manage appointments and schedules using the calendar feature of Outlook.
  • Students will create a final project using what they learned in the class.

  • Cable, Fiber, DSL, or LEO Satellite (i.e. Starlink) internet with speeds of at least 10mb/sec download and 5mb/sec upload are recommended for the best experience.

NOTE: While cellular hotspots may allow access to our courses, users may experience connectivity issues by trying to access our learning management system.  This is due to the potential high download and upload latency of cellular connections.   Therefore, it is not recommended that students use a cellular hotspot as their primary way of accessing their courses.
