This course provides a step-by-step approach to preparing winning grant proposals. Learn to write successful letters and grant proposals. Researching and approaching funders for grant money can help you develop new services, (strengthen your operating budget) and support existing programs. Students leave this course feeling confident in their grant writing abilities and ready to start winning the funding they need to help make a better life for themselves and others.

Course Outline:

Lesson 1: Developing the Proposal

In this lesson we will start the process of writing a grant proposal by doing our research. Our research will fall into two categories: designing the program we want to fund and researching a funder who will be a good match for our program.

Lesson 2: Goals and Objectives

In this lesson we will write our problem statement and write the goals and objectives for our program. The problem statement lets funders know what problem we want to solve while the goals and objectives let them know what we want to accomplish.

Lesson 3: Methods and Evaluation

In this lesson we will learn to write methods and evaluation components of the grant.

Lesson 4: Sustainability and Budget

In this lesson we will work on the sustainability of our program and work on the budget.

Lesson 5: Background and Summary

In this lesson we will write the background component and then the grant summary.

Lesson 6: Finalizing the Proposal

In this lesson we finalize the proposal so it is ready to send out to funders.

Lesson 7: Putting it All Together

In this lesson we will put the final polish on our grant proposal.

All necessary materials are included.
