Program Concept – Lean Six Sigma for Healthcare

Purpose: This program prepares individuals in Lean Six Sigma skills and strategies that can be applied within the healthcare industry to improve processes and provide safe, effective care environments. The participant will demonstrate the practical application of tools utilized with Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The knowledge learned in the program will be applied concurrently with a case-study designed specifically to use Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Audience: Healthcare Administrators, Executives, Nurses, Physicians, Clinical Staff, Pharmacists, Laboratory Staff, Office Administrators. Participants should have leadership and communication skills, knowledge of the healthcare field and demonstrated trust and credibility with their organization.

Hours: 40 hours in classroom

Objectives:

2.    Apply Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to healthcare performance improvement projects.

3.    Develop effective teamwork skills for cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.

4.    Utilize problem solving tools to conduct root cause analysis.

5.    Employ mistake proofing, visual management and 5S strategies to enhance safety in the healthcare environment.

6.    Construct value stream maps to identify waste and reveal improvement opportunities.

7.    Lead Lean Six Sigma projects that will eliminate waste and improve conditions for patients and providers.
