Course Overview:
Students who are comfortable designing in Flash and are familiar with ActionScript will learn the basics of designing games using Flash. Students will start with creating a basic game and progress through adding scripts, sound, and the physics of games.
This course requires the Adobe Flash software in order for the student to follow along with the course lessons. The cost of the software is not included in the purchase of the course. Free trials of the software may be available from Adobe but may not last the duration of the course.
ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date. When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.
Course Outline:
- Students will create interactive ActionScript objects.
- Students will write ActionScript code to control objects.
- Students will write ActionScript code to control movie clip objects.
- Students will create a guessing game.
- Students will write code to control a player using the keyboard.
- Students will write ActionScript code to detect collisions.
- Students will write ActionScript classes to control game objects.
- Students will write code to control game objects using physics.
- Students will write ActionScript code to control the game objects with a mouse.
- Students will create a final project using what they learned in the course.
All necessary materials are included.

- Cable, Fiber, DSL, or LEO Satellite (i.e. Starlink) internet with speeds of at least 10mb/sec download and 5mb/sec upload are recommended for the best experience.
NOTE: While cellular hotspots may allow access to our courses, users may experience connectivity issues by trying to access our learning management system. This is due to the potential high download and upload latency of cellular connections. Therefore, it is not recommended that students use a cellular hotspot as their primary way of accessing their courses.
