Course Overview:
This class will give students a working knowledge of the quality standards required of all business correspondence. Standard procedures to follow before a document is sent and professional techniques to spot errors will be covered. Students will be able to construct complete sentences and punctuate clauses, phrases, and appositives. They will also learn how to correctly use quotation marks, dashes, parentheses, colons, and semicolons. Students will be able to avoid confusing common look-alike and sound-alike words. They will be able to locate and correct these surface errors in a variety of documents of differing lengths.
ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date. When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.
Course Outline:
- You will be able to list the minimum standards of correctness for a business document. You will also be able to identify 4 - 5 editing techniques to spot and correct errors.
- You will be able to identify and correct sentence fragments and correctly punctuate simple, compound, and complex sentences.
- You will be able to correctly punctuate common phrases and clauses when you edit your own documents.
- You will be able to identify and correct word confusions in your documents.
All necessary materials are included.
