Course Overview:

Adobe Flex allows you to create interactive internet applications. In this course you will learn to design, develop and deploy Flex applications. You will learn to develop custom components using MXML and ActionScript. You will need a copy of Adobe Flex. A trial version is available.

Outline:

  • Students will build a basic Flex application.
  • Students will use the simple Flex controls and containers to build an application.
  • Students will write Flex code to respond to application events.
  • Students will write code to work with XML data.
  • Students will create custom Flex components using MXML.
  • Students will display data in Flex using Repeaters and Datasets.
  • Students will design and work with event objects in Flex.
  • Student will create custom Flex components using ActionScript.
  • Students will use Flex to add drag and drop capability to their applications.
  • Students will create a Flex application using what they have learned in the course.

System Requirements:

Internet Connectivity Requirements:

  • Cable, Fiber, DSL, or LEO Satellite (i.e. Starlink) internet with speeds of at least 10mb/sec download and 5mb/sec upload are recommended for the best experience.

NOTE: While cellular hotspots may allow access to our courses, users may experience connectivity issues by trying to access our learning management system.  This is due to the potential high download and upload latency of cellular connections.   Therefore, it is not recommended that students use a cellular hotspot as their primary way of accessing their courses.
