Course Overview:

Students will learn to create dynamic sites using ASP.NET with VB.NET. During this class students will work examples to collect information from a form and to process it, and read and write records to a database. Students will learn to track user state, using session, and server variables and will learn how to create a secure web application. Students will learn to work server controls, validation controls and will learn to create their own user controls. A background in both programming and web design is helpful. Students will need a copy of Visual Studio .NET and access to a web server that supports ASP.NET.

ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date.  When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.

Course Outline:

  • Students will create a basic ASP page.
  • Students will pass data between web pages using datasets, cookies, URL parameters and form data.
  • Students will create ASP web pages that use server and validation controls.
  • Students will create ASP pages that manage user state.
  • Students will create ASP.NET that use master pages, themes and site navigation.
  • Students will use ASP and ADO.NET to create a data driven web page.
  • Students will use the data controls to manipulate data on a web page.
  • Students will create ASP.NET code to secure web pages and authenticate users.
  • Students will write ASP.NET code to define user controls, server controls and web services.
  • Students will develop and ASP application using what they have learned in this course.
