Course Overview:

This class will give students a thorough understanding of the features of Microsoft Word. Students will be able to create, edit, format and print Word documents that include outlines, tables, styles and sections. Other essential topics including printing, saving and retrieving files are also covered. Students will create a newsletter that uses columns, drawings, and object linking and embedding. Students will create web pages using Word and learn how to create a website. Students will learn how to use the Workgroups features of Word, how to create Forms, Master Documents and Macros. Students will need a basic understanding of Windows to complete this class. Students will need a copy of Office. A 60-day trial version is available.

ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date.  When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.

Course Outline:

  • Students will identify uses of Microsoft Word for business and personal use.
  • Students will edit and format text and paragraphs in a Word document.
  • Students will format text, paragraphs and themes in a Word document.
  • Students will use Microsoft Word to present and manipulate information in columns and tables.
  • Students will add graphics, equations and charts to their Word documents.
  • Students will create a table of contents and an index in their long documents. Students will create footnotes and hyperlinks.
  • Students will learn to create form letters, E-Mail messages and labels through mail merge features.
  • Students will use the Track Changes features to make edits to documents.
  • Students will learn to create documents to be used in other programs.
  • Students will learn to add customization to the Word program.
