Course Overview:

Only about one-quarter of all business projects are successful. The discipline of Project Management aims to improve those dismal results with a systematic approach to the unique tasks that abound in an enterprise. This hands-on course will acquaint the student with world-recognized methodologies used to produce more successful projects.

ATTENTION: This course has a strict start and end date.  When a student enrolls into this course, they will need to work with one of our Training Assessment Managers (TAMs) to choose a start date before they can be enrolled in their course.

Course Outline:

  • The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the nature of a project via the activities in the lesson - discussion, quiz, practice and assignment.
  • The learner will demonstrate knowledge of some of the first events and documents of a project via the sections of Lesson 2.
  • Student will understand the importance of scope within Project Management by writing a focused scope statement for a real or could-be-real project.
  • Learner will develop knowledge of time and task within a project by developing a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Learner will gain an understanding of the place of risk in a project by performing a risk assessment.
  • Student will learn about the dynamics of teams and the importance of communications by successfully completing related coursework, including a communications plan.
  • Student will learn the Project Manager's role in the executing phase including the use of a baseline by successfully creating a baseline and a proper meeting agenda.
  • Student will learn the aspects of closing a project at any point of the cycle by successfully demonstrating knowledge of Lessons Learned.
  • Student will solidify Project Management by successfully conceptualizing and conveying the student's own place in Project Management.
  • Student will learn of the wealth of outside PM resources be successfully reviewing a selection of resources.
